Review: Benefit the Porefessional License To Blot Instant Oil-Blotting Stick

I have always loved Benefit cosmetics. They have amazing products with clever and catchy packaging and names. I was browsing around Sephora recently and saw a few new Benefit products on display. I decided to try out their new oil blotting stick.

This is an instant oil blotting stick meant to give your skin an instant matte look.  My guess was it’s meant to take the place of oil blotting sheets and a touch up powder.  On Benefit’s website it stays this is formulated with “tiny invisible blotting spheres that mattifying shine for up to six hours after application.  The specially designed triangular tip targets shiny zones-the sides of your nose, forehead and chin-for a smooth, flawless finish.”

I do really love the shape of this product.  It makes getting that hard to reach area around my nose a breeze and is flat enough for the rest of my face.

This product is also formulated without:

  • Parabens
  • Sulfates
  • Phthalates

You can wear this alone or touch up over your makeup.  You use a very light touch when applying this and use short, soft and quick strokes.  I didn’t notice any issues with it disrupting my makeup.

The color of the product is white, but it goes on completely clear.  It didn’t leave any residue on my skin after.  There is no added fragrance and it didn’t irritate my skin.

You can see that it is retractable and this contains .25 oz of product for $20.

So what are my final thoughts?  I really really love it.  I think it works really well.  I’m not sure that it worked for anywhere near 6 hours (although the packaging does say UP to six hours), but it was an easy and quick fix.  If my skin were particularly oily, I would still opt for a blotting sheet.

This product is slim and could easily be thrown in a bag or even a back pocket.  I made the mistake of leaving this on the living room table and the next day noticed it missing.  I found it the next day in my husbands car!!  He also has an oily t-zone and tends to feel a little self-conscious about it.  So this is now his and I will go buy another one for myself.  What we do for love.  🙂
