I have been on the hunt for a more natural shampoo and conditioner. I feel like a lot of companies claim to be “natural”, but it’s just an illusion.
I’ve was recently introduced to a shampoo and conditioner from the brand Pura d’or.
I tried out the premium organic argan oil based scalp and dandruff shampoo and the premium organic argan oil based conditioner.
The shampoo has a base of organic argan oil, tea tree oil, cedarwood oil, nettle extracts, thyme extracts and other natural ingredients. It says it is meant to help control flaking, scaling, and itching. It also claims to sooth the scalp and moisturize hair.
The great thing about this product is that it is paraben, sulfate, gluten, sodium lauryl sulfate, artificial colors and artificial preservative free. I have never seen a shampoo that took that many bad ingredients out. This makes me really happy!
Lately my scalp has been really itchy. Perhaps it was because of the dry winter air. It drives me crazy. This product helped out immensely! The directions say to work the product into a lather, leave on for two minutes to allow for deep penetration and full absorption, and then rinse.
Of course, I didn’t expect this to lather because it doesn’t contain sodium lauryl sulfate. I was worried it wouldn’t really clean my hair, but it definitely did. It cleaned my hair without stripping all the oil away. The one thing that I did notice was a strong scent. It smelled very “natural” and a little “woodsy”, but it wasn’t overwhelming.
The shampoo didn’t leave any residue behind and didn’t dry my hair out. I also love that this came with a pump. It made it so much easier to use in the shower and I didn’t waste any product because I accidentally poured too much out.
So did it work? Absolutely! Since I started using this, I haven’t itched my scalp once. My scalp feels amazing and it has brought so much relief. My hair is looking very healthy and I feel good knowing I am using a more natural product that is better for me.
Now let’s talk about the conditioner. I used the premium organic argan oil based conditioner. This has a lavender vanilla scent which is marvelous.
This conditioner is made from 99 percent vegetable based ingredients. Again, this is absolutely amazing! It claims to manage frizz and enhance shine, which is what a conditioner should definitely be able to do. It is argan oil based and is also paraben, sulfate and gluten free.
This didn’t weight down my hair or leave behind any residue. It does have a thinner consistency so if you’re looking for a deeply conditioning product this isn’t for you. I usually use a hair mask or deep conditioner once a week so I use a regular conditioner the rest of the week. It definitely added moisture to my hair and added some shine.
Altogether, I recommend both of these products if you want a more natural based shampoo and conditioner duo. They work really well and are good for you at the same time.
