Review: L’Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation in Natural Beige

I have stayed away from L’Oreal products for a while now. Most of the products I’ve tried are heavily scented and my skin can’t handle it.  A friend of mine recommended L’Oreal’s new infallible pro-matte foundation to me and said I would love it.  I tried to ignore her suggestion, but when I stopped by the drugstore I saw this foundation there (only one lonely foundation left on the display) and thought it was a “sign.”  I am soooo glad I picked it up.

Price:

$12.99 on website for 1 fl. oz.  Available in 12 shades.

Description:

Up to 24 HR Matte without the flat.  Air-light texture, demi-matte finish.  The pro look of longwear.  Achieve a matte finish that won’t fall flat with this air-light, longwearing liquid formula. Lightweight and creamy, foundation goes on smooth with a demi-matte finish that lasts up to 24 hours—hiding imperfections for a smooth, clear complexion.

This foundation gives a demi-matte finish that claims to be air light and is oil free.  It claims to wear up to 24 hours which I would never do, but I take that as meaning long wearing.  There are 12 shades in the line, but my local drugstore displayed only carried five.  I was so lucky that the last shade left was perfect for me!  I purchased this in the shade 105 natural beige.

I will say, it was a little difficult to see the true color of this foundation because of the cloudy packaging.  I actually thought it was cute that this is a matte foundation and they made the packaging a matte black as well.  I went off of the shade name though and that worked out well (which is not always the case).

Application:

The formula is gel-like and is very creamy.  I found it easy to blend out with my beauty sponge.  I would work quickly though because it sets quickly.  It took a little bit to absorb, but when it did it turned into a beautiful demi-matte finish that looked and felt natural.  It gave me a beautiful medium coverage, but felt so light.

It doesn’t contain SPF and photographs beautifully.  I attended a birthday party last week and my skin looked amazing in every picture.  It gave me that “Yes, my skin naturally looks this amazing” look.  🙂

Lasting Power:

It held up beautifully throughout the day.  This is oil-free which helps minimize the oil on my t-zone.  I did blot once (which is normal) but that’s it. I didn’t notice any obvious breakdown.  There was a little around my nose, but it’s allergy season and I’m constantly sneezing!!

I didn’t notice it clinging to my dry patches too badly and it didn’t look flat either on my combination skin.  I’m sure if you have drier skin, you will see more issues with clinging.

Breakouts/Allergic Reactions:

My skin never broke out, which tends to happen with heavier coverage foundations.  This was very breathable and didn’t give my skin any problems.  I also love that this didn’t have any added scent.  As I said before, I’ve avoided L’Oreal products because of this.  I’m so happy they decided against adding anything!

Overall Thoughts:

I definitely love this foundation, but I really want to see how this does when the weather becomes hotter.  I have a feeling this may be perfect in the warmer summer months!

  1. I’ve been meaning to try this foundation! I am a CC cream fanatic at the moment but you hit the nail on the head with the whole ‘not photographing well’ thing. I’ll have to get my hands on this. Hopefully they’ll have a shade for me…. 🙂
