Review: Revlon Ultra HD Lipstick

Happy Monday lovelies!
Today I will be reviewing Revlon’s new ultra HD lipstick in HD poinsettia and HD Primrose.

Price:

$9.99.  Available in 20 shades.

Details:

Revlon’s Ultra HD Lipstick has a revolutionary, high definition color without a heavy feel. Wax-free technology delivers true color clarity.

I love that this has a clear lid.  It’s very easy to see the color which can be tricky with other lipsticks.

Application:

This applied very smoothly and evenly.  I love that it doesn’t have that waxy feel and can definitely see the high pigmentation because of it.

Here is HD primrose:

HD poinsettia.

Lasting Power:

This didn’t hold up nearly as well as my L’Oreal Le Rouge lipsticks.  Although it doesn’t claim to be long wearing so I can’t blame them for that.  I do feel that this is drying and I have to apply a balm after awhile.  The color does fade with eating and drinking and I re-applied 1-2 times during the day.

Scent:

This does have a little bit of a scent.  Because of this it did cause some irritation around my lip area.  Nothing horrible, but not great either.  I wasn’t loving the scent though.  It did give me a little bit of a headache (I am very sensitive to fragrances). I couldn’t quite place the scent.  It does smell somewhat fruity.  When I asked my husband he said it smelled like cherry chapstick.

Overall Thoughts:

I love the pigmentation and color, but that’s about it.  I am a little frustrated with the packaging.  I feel they made the lipstick a little too wide which means it’s harder to get a precise application.  They also made the lipstick stick out of the barrel so I am constantly knicking it with the cap.  I have to clean it every time I use it or else it gets everywhere!

This was highly recommended by the beauty consultant at my drugstore.  I’m now thinking she was pushing the product, perhaps because it’s not selling so well?

I am not planning on repurchasing this product.  I think Revlon can make some improvements and make it better in the future!

If you’ve tried this, let me know your thoughts.  I’d love to hear them!

Have a beautiful and wonderful day!

xoxo Lizzie♥

I love that shade of red, but that would be very annoying not to be able to apply it precisely. Red is tricky enough as it is

    1. My thoughts exactly! The colors are gorgeous but it’s just not worth the extra work. 🙂
