Review: Mac Face and Body Foundation

Happy Friday lovelies!

Today’s review will be on Mac’s Face and Body foundation!

I’ve heard a lot of things about this foundation over the last few years and have always passed it by.  It just didn’t seem like something I’d be interested in.  The last time I went into Mac, I had the most wonderful person helping me out and she strongly recommended I try it.  So….I caved.

$27 for 50 ml/1.7 fl oz

$35 for 120 ml/4 fl oz

A fluid foundation that provides low-to-medium buildable coverage and a flawless, natural satin-shine finish. Skin conditioning, water-resistant and long-wearing.

Very thin and liquid-y.  This foundation is water based.  It will thicken up a bit when you work it into your fingers/skin.  Because this foundation is so thin it can get a little messy.  You can see in this picture how the foundation easily gets all over the nozzle.

I like to squeeze some product into my fingertips and warm it up using both hands.  Once the product has thickened a little, I then begin working/massaging it into my skin.  I usually use just my fingers to apply and will only use a brush to smooth the product out or make sure it has been applied evenly.

Because the texture changes, I would recommend working in sections.  That way the product won’t set before you have the chance to smooth and even things out.

This gives me a very light coverage.  You can definitely build it up.

This is a more natural finish.  It falls more under the dewy category.  The finish is absolutely beautiful.  It looks like healthy skin.  It does not sink into fine lines/wrinkles or pores.  It definitely looks like skin, but better!

Because it is a more dewy finish, I don’t think those with oily skin will love it.  I have combination skin and I do find it gets pretty shiny/oily throughout the day.  I always set my foundation with powder, but that didn’t seem to do much with this foundation.  I usually have to blot multiple times throughout the day while wearing this foundation.

If you have normal or dry skin I think you will love this foundation.

Staying Power/Wear Time:

Even though I get oily while wearing this and blot constantly, the product stays on very nicely.  By the end of the day, my foundation still looks really good.

Breakouts/Allergic Reaction:

I did not experience any breakouts or allergic reactions with this product.

Overall Thoughts:

Because I get oily while wearing this foundation, I didn’t think it was for me.  But I just can’t get over how good it makes my skin look.  I’ve tried other foundations that are supposed to give you that “my skin but better” look, but they weren’t perfect.  They would accentuate fine lines and pores and did not wear well throughout the day.

Every time I use this product I get so many compliments and people asking what my secret is.

It photographed really well with no white cast.

The other great thing is the shade range.  They even make a pure white foundation so you can adjust your shade if needed.

I was matched to the shade C2, but I think I would go with C3 next time.  Because it is a thinner formula I can get away with it.

All in all, I really do love this foundation.  Any product that can make my skin look “naturally” perfect is a keeper!

Have you tried this foundation out?  Let me know your thoughts.  I’d love to hear them!

Have a beautiful and wonderful day!  🙂

xoxo Lizzie♥

I realize it’s called face and body foundation, but does anyone actually use it on their body?

    1. I think it’s more commonly used that way by makeup artists for use with photography.

This is one my fav foundations to date. It’s the most skin like foundation I’ve ever tried. I have to agree the consistency is a bit runny but that’s what I like about it most. The more you massage it into your skin, the more coverage you get. It’s pure magic!

    1. It is definitely unlike anything else I’ve seen. I love that it doesn’t sink into my fine lines and pores making it look so natural!
