Good morning beautiful!
Today’s review is on the some-what new Neutrogena hydro boost water gel moisturizer. I have never had a bad experience with Neutrogena’s skin care products. I have been using Clinique’s moisture surge extended thirst relief moisturizer and was curious to see how similar this product would be.
I’ve been using this for the last month and feel I can give my thoughts/opinions on this product.
I purchased mine for $19 at my local drugstore. This product contains 1.7 oz of product.
Hydro Boost Water Gel instantly quenches dry skin and keeps it looking smooth, supple and hydrated day after day. The unique water gel formula absorbs quickly, like a gel, but has the long-lasting, intense moisturizing power of a cream. It boosts skin’s hydration level and locks it in all day.
Naturally found in the skin, hydrating hyaluronic acid acts as a sponge for dry skin cells, moisturizing with up to 1,000 times its weight in water, resulting in more supple and smooth skin.
- Purified Hyaluronic acid
- Wearable under makeup
This is a very thin moisturizer. It is a gel and not your standard cream so that was different.
This went on so nicely. It just absorbs into your skin and feels amazingly refreshing instantly. I love using this in the morning because I feel it helps perk me up when I’m tired. It almost feels like splashing cool water on your skin, but without making a mess! I also love that this is oil-free. It didn’t make my skin oily at all and I am able to use it both morning/evening without any problems. It does well with makeup too. I waited for my skin care to completely absorb into my skin before applying my makeup. It didn’t feel heavy with everything together.
This does have a light and refreshing scent. I can’t pinpoint what the scent is though. Luckily for me, the scent is very subtle and didn’t irritate my skin at all. This also didn’t cause any allergic reactions or breakouts throughout the day.
I really love this moisturizer. Yes, it is more expensive than other drugstore products. Yes, the packaging isn’t the most hygienic (although you can make it work.) But it does what it claims. It moisturizer my skin really well, absorbs quickly, and locks in hydration all day.
I do have combination skin and this didn’t make my t-zone oily at all. I should note that there is another product available for those with dry skin. Neutrogena offers a similar product called Hydro Boost Gel-Cream for extra dry skin. This product is oil free, and is also fragrance free. I may give that one a try after I run out of mine and see which I like better. If you’d like a review on that let me know.
Overall, I really love this and would definitely repurchase. I do find it to be very similar to the Clinique moisture surge moisturizer and is less expensive as well. The Clinique moisturizer is also a gel-cream that retains moisture throughout the day. I have a review on that and will post it here:
Hope you are all having a wonderful day!
