Review: Covergirl Outlast Stay Luminous Natural Glow Foundation & All-Day Primer

I finally tracked down some new Covergirl products!  It seemed to take forever to come out to a local store near me!!  But, nevertheless, I found them and am so excited to review them for you today!

Let’s start with the primer first.

Price:

I paid $8.99.

Comes with 1 fluid ounce (30 ml) of product.

Description:

A first step for any beauty routine! Outlast All-Day Makeup Primer preps skin, hides pores and reduces the look of imperfections for a smooth, flawless effect. Extends the wear of your foundation and keeps it looking fresh, all without clogging pores. Suitable for sensitive skin.

Consistency:

This felt more like a lotion.  It didn’t have a slick, silicone-like feel to it.  It really just felt like a moisturizer.

Application:

This was very easy to work with and blended easily into my skin.  It absorbed very quickly.

Scent:

I didn’t notice any fragrance.

Performance:

Honestly, I didn’t notice this doing much of anything.  I applied this to one side of my face to see if the foundation would last longer there.  It wore exactly the same as the side without any primer.  I also didn’t think my foundation applied any smoother or more even with the primer.

Overall Thoughts:

I don’t think this primer is a must have.  It didn’t seem to extend the wear of my makeup and really didn’t do much of anything.

Now for the foundation….

Price:

I paid $8.99.

Comes in 1 fl. oz.(30ml) glass container with pump.

There are seven shades in this line.

I purchased 855 Soft Honey.

Description:

Outlast Stay Luminous Foundation’s oil-free, non-greasy formula gives your skin a natural luminosity that lasts all day! Perfect for achieving radiant skin, this all day foundation hydrates skin while providing flawless coverage

My Skin Type:

I have combination skin (oily t-zone and dry/normal everywhere else) and also have sensitive skin.

I have a medium skin tone.  Here are some of my foundation shades just for comparison.

Consistency:

This is a little thinner than the Covergirl 3 in 1 foundation.  I would say it has medium thickness.

Coverage:

With one pump I achieved a light-medium coverage.  It is buildable.

Scent:

This has your typical foundation smell to it, but doesn’t have any added fragrance.

Application:

I found the pump to be a little stiffer than the 3 in 1 foundation.  I started with one pump and dotted that on my face.  I used a brush on one half and my beauty blender on the other to see which I preferred.  I definitely felt that the beauty blender was much easier and faster to blend the product in and was less streaky.  Of course, using a brush will give you a little more coverage.

I did notice that this has a little less coverage than the 3 in 1 foundation.  You can build it up, but I would be careful not to add too much.

I also noticed that this never seemed to completely set into my skin.  Even with an added powder on top, it still felt tacky.

Finish:

It did give me a luminous glow without adding any dewiness to my skin.  In my experience, luminous foundations add too much dew for my combination skin so I have to be very careful when using them.

If you have dry skin, you may notice this clinging to dry patches.

This isn’t your typical hydrating foundation so make sure you moisturize well.

I didn’t notice this sinking into my pores or fine lines.

Wear Time:

This wore pretty well throughout the day.  Most days I have my makeup on for 8-12 hours and I would say it got through hour 7 before I noticed some break down.

It did very well in controlling my oily t-zone and didn’t make me look too shiny throughout the day.

Overall Thoughts:

The first thing I noticed was the shade difference between the 3 in 1 and the stay luminous.  The stay luminous definitely runs lighter so be cautious of that.  At this time of the year I wear 842 medium beige in the 3 in 1 and that was too light in the stay luminous.  I went with soft honey (which is my summer shade in the 3 in 1) and that works perfectly for me.

I do prefer the finish and coverage of the 3 in 1 foundation better, but I love the luminosity of this foundation for Spring and Summer.  It is a very subtle luminosity, but makes the skin look beautiful.

I may combine both foundations to get the best of both worlds.

Have you tried this foundation and primer out?  Let me know your thoughts!

Have a beautiful and wonderful day!

xoxo Lizzie♥

I am excited to try out the foundation. I have been liking a more luminous foundation for summer time, so I think it would be a good fit. 🙂

    1. Give it a try! It works really well with my combination skin. I’ve even been mixing it with other foundations.
