Review: Bare Republic Natural Mineral Sunscreen & Nuxe Face Cleansing and Makeup Removing Gel

Good morning lovelies.

Today I will be reviewing two products I received in my May Ipsy bag.  I will leave the link to my unbagging in case you are interested in seeing the other products I received.  May ipsy

Let’s start with the Bare Republic product first.

Price:

Full Size: $14.99 for 1.7 oz.

Available at Target.

Details:

SPF 30 Tinted Mineral Face Sunscreen Lotion Let the power of nature protect and nourish the sensitive skin on your face with our lightly tinted 100% natural, chemical-free SPF 30 Facial Mineral Sunscreen. With its lightweight, non-whitening, non-greasy, and lightly tinted application, it’s perfect for use with or without make up. Wear with confidence knowing that you are applying the latest in sunscreen technology: broad spectrum UVA/UVB protection, 40 minutes water resistant, no chemical actives, no synthetic fragrances, no parabens – no worries!

Consistency:

This has a very thin consistency.

Scent:

A very subtle scent of coconut.

  Application:

The first time I applied this, the product felt very greasy.  You must shake well before using to evenly distribute the product.

This product doesn’t feel greasy, but it does feel slick.  I don’t know if I would say it’s silky.  It actually feels very strange.  But it absorbs quickly.

Overall Thoughts:

I didn’t hate it, but didn’t love it either.  My biggest pet peeve is the spf.  I usually use an spf of at least 50 on my face and this contains an spf of 30.

I also wasn’t in love with the thin consistency, the scent, or the slickness of the product.

My make-up did apply smoothly over it and it didn’t impede the application or wear at all.

I won’t be purchasing the full size of this, but I am glad to have had the opportunity to try it.

Okay, now on to the Nuxe face cleansing and makeup removing gel.

Price:

Around $19 for 6.7 oz./200 ml

Details:

This Face Cleansing & Make-Up Removing Gel with Honey is a gentle, soap-free gel that removes make-up, cleanses and soothes the skin with honey and sunflower. For dry and sensitive skin.

Use in the morning and/or evening on damp skin avoiding the eyes. Lather and rinse with clean water.

Paraben-free. 94% of ingredients are from natural origin.

Consistency:

This is a thicker gel.

Application:

A little went a long way with this product.  It also was very smooth.

Performance:

The moment I squeezed the product into my hands, I instantly second guessed my decision to use it.

It has a strong scent of…I’m not exactly sure.  Maybe woodsy?

But it irritated my skin and nose.  I decided…for the sake of this review…to use it anyway.

I first removed my makeup with a cleansing wipe, and then went in with this product.  It did a great job of removing whatever makeup was left and my skin did feel clean.

I did notice that my skin felt dry after rinsing so I immediately applied my moisturizer.

Overall Thoughts:

The product isn’t bad at all.  It worked quite well.

It is just the smell that I can’t get over.  I can’t bring myself to try it out again.

If they came out with a fragrance free version, I’d gladly give it a second chance!

Have a beautiful and wonderful day!

xoxo Lizzie♥
