Good Morning Ladies!
While browsing around my local drugstore the other day I came across two new Loreal displays. Now, correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t believe these are brand new products. I think I remember seeing them awhile ago. Needless to say, I’ve never tried them and decided to pick some up.
They come in two different finishes: la lacque (which is glossy) and le matte (which is..well…matte).
I picked up one of each.
There are five shades available in each finish with 10 shades in all.
I picked up 106 “Mad for Matte” and 203 “Lacquerized”.
Velvetty Matte or Irresistibly Glossy Pigment-Riche color, perfectly precise.

No sharpener needed!
This has a baby powder scent to it. It bothered me quite a bit! It actually reminded me of that cabbage patch kid smell (does anyone remember those?) The scent didn’t linger too long.
These both applied very smoothly and evenly. They are very pigmented. I didn’t need to layer the product at all. I was able to get a nice color with just one application. The two colors I picked up are very similar to each other just with different finishes.
(L-106 mad for matte (matte finish) R-203 lacquerized (glossy))
Hopefully from the swatch you can see that both reds are very similar. The one on the left is matte and the right is glossy and has a nice sheen to it.
I assumed the matte would last longer, but both did pretty much the same. The matte didn’t last much longer on me than the other. They wore about 3 hours before I needed to touch up. The matte did stain my lips a little, but it was patchy. But I will say, I preferred the matte finish. The glossy finish felt tacky all day which bothered me a bit. But it had a beautiful glossiness to it!!
The matte finish wasn’t too drying and I found it a little easier to control and apply on my lips.
I didn’t experience much feathering with either product and I didn’t use a lip liner with either. In fact, because this is a thinner pencil, I outlined my lips first and then filled them in.
I love the concept of these products. I love not needed a lip liner and a lip color. I also love the compact size and how easily I could fit it in a small clutch or even in my pocket.
The pencils start out nice and pointed, but of course dull out after using them a few times. It would be nice if they included a sharpener so you had the option of forming a nice point again if you wanted.
The unfortunate thing is, both pencils broke! I was able to get a few good uses out of them and then one day….the product stopped twisting up. I tried shaking the product out, but I can’t fix it. I don’t know if this is a common issue with others who have used this product, but it a deal breaker for me.
Have you tried these out? Let me know your thoughts. Also, if you have any lip product recommendations let me know!
Have a beautiful and wonderful day!
