When I caught a sneak peek of the new Kat Von D metal crush eyeshadows, I knew I had to have them!
The colors alone looked gorgeous, but the swatches I saw looked super pigmented.
As soon as I spotted them at my local Sephora, I didn’t waste another second! I snatched up two colors and made them mine!!
11 different shades (10 currently available at Sephora)
What it is:
An innovative eye shadow with maximum pigment and extreme long wear.
What it does:
Bring a shock of metallic color to eyes. Kat Von D’s proprietary formula features Color-Soaked Concentrate™, the result of a technique in which pigment-saturated powders undergo a unique tumbling process that softens and smooths each particle until shadow is creamy and lustrous—leaving behind the highest possible levels of pigment and pearl in this ultra long-wear shadow. With a polished metal finish and 11 striking shades, Metal Crush Eyeshadow glides smoothly across the lids, saturating them with beautiful metallic pigment.

What else you need to know:
To develop this groundbreaking formula, Kat Von D pushed the boundaries of long wear and high pigment—just because it’s never been done before doesn’t mean it isn’t possible.
This bold, unexpected shade range breaks eye shadow color convention with fearless metallic colors, including Kat Von D’s favorite shades, Thrasher, a gorgeous metallic gold, Raw Power, an iridescent intense garnet, Black No. 1, a shimmering sleek gunmetal and Iggy, a pearlescent mermaid green.
Of course, I picked up the two more “natural” shades that are available. This collection has a stunning blue colbat, a beautiful violet, a gorgeous mermaid green and a bright green. But you know me! I always stick with my natural colors!
The texture is slightly different than your average shadow. It is almost a hybrid of a cream and powder. It is mostly powder, but glides smoothly like a cream.
I was expecting this to apply on my eyelids the same way it applied when I swatched it. For some reason, I got less color pay-off when I actually applied it on my eyes.
I decided to apply a primer underneath and use the shadows wet and that made a HUGE difference.
I did experience a slight amount of fall out with both, but nothing terrible.
They both wore for about 6 hours before I noticed some creasing and wear down (it was about 8 hours with the use of a primer).
I think they are a great value even though the price seems a bit steep. You are actually getting quite a bit of product (2.8g/.10oz) which is much larger than your average eyeshadow. And since they are well pigmented you won’t go through the product quickly.
I really am loving these shadows and I know I will get a ton of wear out of them in the Fall (they are the perfect Fall colors!!)
I am even thinking of purchasing additional shades. I’m looking at Thunderstruck (which would make a great highlighting/brightening shade, Thrasher (a beautiful gold) and surprisingly…..Iggy (which is that gorgeous mermaid green).

Have a beautiful and wonderful day!
