Review: Coola Makeup Setting Spray

Hello lovelies!

Today’s review in on a product I received in my July Birchbox.  I will leave the link to my unboxing in case you missed it.  July Birchbox

Price:

$36 for 1.7 fl. oz.      Description:

What it is:

A 70 percent certified organic SPF 30 spray that provides a weightless matte-finish while keeping makeup looking fresh all day.

What it is formulated to do:

This lightweight, matte finish mist protects the sensitive skin of your face, keeping makeup looking ‘just applied’ and fresh. The highly advanced formula includes an array of active ingredients: both cucumber and aloe vera extracts to help soothe and refresh skin; hyaluronic acid to bind moisture while softening, toning, and rehydrating skin, and reducing the appearance of pores, fine lines, and wrinkles; and broad-spectrum SPF 30 to protect skin from the sun’s harmful UV rays. It offers simple spray application so you can refresh while on the go.

What it is formulated WITHOUT:

– Parabens – Sulfates – Phthalates

What else you need to know:

This product is cruelty-free.

This sounds like the perfect product for summer.  Not only does it set your makeup and keep you matte, but also provides an SPF of 30 which adds even more protection throughout the day.

Let’s start with the good:

I love that this is 70% organic.  Knowing that it’s good for my skin makes me feel really good about it.  And even though I don’t feel it prolonged the wear of my makeup at all, it did help break up any powdery areas and made my makeup look more natural.

I also loved carrying this with me and refreshing my face throughout the day.  Not only did it feel amazing and cooling, but I was adding a little more sunscreen to protect me.  I, of course, don’t re-apply sunscreen when I’m wearing makeup so this is a great way to do it!

Alright….now for the not so great news.

The pump got stuck a few times which is not fun.  I was able to fix it, but I don’t always have time to fix it when I’m on the go.

I also didn’t care for the way they sprayed out.  It streamlined instead of releasing a nice mist.  I felt like I was shooting it out of a toy water gun.

Once on my skin I experienced a slight burning sensation.  I’m not sure what ingredient may have caused this, but it didn’t feel pleasant.

It has an unpleasant taste.  I had to immediately wash it off of my lips because it burned and tasted gross.

So….I’m bummed.  I really wanted this to be my heaven sent product.  The cons are enough to keep me from purchasing the full size.

If you know of a similar product please let me know!  I’d love to try out something else!!!

Hope you are having a beautiful and wonderful day!

xoxo Lizzie♥

I have seen a lot of hype about Coola and I’m glad I found an honest review. I received the Coola Mango sunscreen cream but I’m allergic to mango so my relationship with Coola is over before it began. Thanks for the review.

    1. I’m sorry to hear that! I tried their sunscreen too and I wasn’t a fan. I think they’re a great company but so far my skin doesn’t love their products. Thanks for your sweet comment 🙂
