Review: Milani Amore Matte Lip Creme

I have been on the hunt for the new Milani Amore Matte Lip Creme for what seems like FOREVER!!!

None of my local Walgreens seemed to have it in stores and no one knew anything about them.

Until one day…..the makeup gods showed favor on little ol’ me.

I ended up finding them at a Walgreens that is 2 hours away from where I live.  I didn’t even go in there looking for them.  All I needed was hairspray!  But….there they were!

There were only three left on the display and you better believe I snatched them up immediately!

Price:

$6.99

There are 8 shades in total.

They are now available on Milani.com.  The price is a little higher online at $8.99.

Details:

Inspired by the runway of Milan, introducing eight new longwearing, full coverage, richly pigmented, liquid lipstick with a smooth matte finish.
Easy to apply, ultra lightweight feel on the lips.
Infused with Vitamins A & C for added hydration.

Formula:

This is thinner and slightly more “watery” than the Stila liquid lipsticks.  It doesn’t have that thick creme consistency.

Because it is thinner, it is not as opaque as the Stila liquid lipstick either.  The color is buildable though.

Wand:

This comes with a flat end applicator.  Just like the Stila liquid lipsticks, the wand picks up way too much product.

Application:

Okay.  Here’s where things became a little difficult for me.  #6 “Desire” was by far the easiest for me to apply.  It applied very evenly and was easy to control.

It just got harder from there.

#7 “Romance” (which is a slightly darker red) was starting to bleed outside my lip line.  I had a slightly harder time applying this evenly as well.  It was somewhat patchy .

#8 “Flirt” was the most difficult.  It was very patchy and I could not get an even application.  If I layered the product, you could tell some areas looked darker than others.  This bleed like crazy (even though I was applying it so carefully!)

I should also note this become tacky almost immediately after application, but doesn’t stay that way.  It does dry down.  It did settle into the lines on my lips.

I made sure to exfoliate well and apply a balm before application.

(Left to right: #6 Desire, #7 Romance, #8 Flirt)

Please excuse the next few pictures.  I wanted to show you what the product looked like on my lips to help you understand what I’m talking about.  I am no lip swatch expert and did my best.  Please be kind!!  🙂
  (#6 Desire)

Applied cleanly and evenly.  Product stayed within the my lip line.

  #7 Romance

You can see this escaped my lip line on the outer edges and looks messier.
#8 Flirt

This was really hard to keep within my lip line.  You can also see the patchiness where I tried to even out the color with a second application.

Scent:

While most liquid lipsticks have a chemical scent, the Milani lipsticks have covered that up with a wonderful sweet smell.

It isn’t too overpowering (thankfully!) and doesn’t linger after application.

Wear Time:

These wore remarkably well.  On average, I was able to get a solid 6-8 hours of wear out of them.  The color did fade slightly due to eating/drinking, but it faded beautifully, leaving behind a nice stain on my lips.

They remove rather easily after a few hours of wear.  But if you try to remove it before that….it is hard!  I was able to remove the product easy with an oil based product.  They barely budged with just the standard makeup remover wipe.  So…be careful!

Overall Thoughts:

If Stila and Milani made a baby liquid lipstick, that would equal the perfect product!

I want the creaminess and opacity of Stila with the price tag and scent of Milani.

Now, I’m not saying this is a bad product.  I actually really like it.  It just takes a little extra work.

I highly recommend lining your lips prior to application.  This helps the product stay within your lip line and also gives you a guide too.

I also really love applying the color with my fingertips.  I will dab a small amount on the center of my lips and then blend out with my finger.  It gives this gorgeous flush of color without the patchiness.  You can also layer a gloss or even a lipstick on top too if you wanted.

What do you think?  Is this a must have for you?  Let me know your thoughts!!

Have a beautiful and wonderful day!

xoxo Lizzie♥

I’ve heard so much about these so I’m glad you were able to get them, even if was unintentionally. I can see that Flirt applies uneven even in the swatches. Desire probably has to be my favorite shade-it looks so nice!

  7. Desire looks like a nice color, the swatch looked great! Hmmm I might try them for myself in other colors and see how they work. Also, I nominated you for the Beauty Blogger Award https://sassyclassyfashionista.wordpress.com/2015/08/30/beauty-blogger-award/ 🙂
