September 2015 Ipsy

My September Ipsy bag just arrived today!

I don’t think I will ever get over the excitement of seeing that bright pink mailer in my mail box every month!

My husband loves bringing the bag to me and seeing my face light up!

And he sits and watches me unbag my goodies too!  🙂

Ipsy is a monthly beauty subscription that is $10.  It contains makeup, skin care, hair products and other beauty related items.  You take a beauty quiz first and they pick out 5 products for you each month.

The theme this month is:  “Face Fashion.”

The funny thing is I didn’t even receive an email from Ipsy with tracking information this month.  I had no idea it was even sent!!  But hey…I’m not complaining!

This month’s bag is very glam and “Hollywood”.  I think it fits the theme well.

Eau Thermale Avenue Soothing Moisture Mask Sample:  Full Size= $26

This rich, creamting skincare mask provides intensive soothing care to dehydrated and over-stressed skin.  Its unique formula deeply penetrates skin and in minutes, sensitive or tired skin can become supple, soft and radiant again.  It also offers instant relief for burns, sunburns, redness and tightness.

  • Replenishes moisture to dehydrated skin and helps restore skin’s barrier
  • Minimizes redness
  • Paraben-free, Hypoallergenic, Non-Comedogenic, Vegan and Gluten-Free

This came at the perfect time!  My skin is already starting to dry out with the upcoming change in season.  The areas around my eyes, nose and mouth become really tight and can hurt from the drying skin.

The sample is a bit smaller than I’d like.  I can probably get one…maybe two uses out of it if I use it sparingly.

Trust Fund Beauty Nail Polish in “Elegantly Wasted”  Full Size= $15

Quick-drying, chip resistant polish.  7-free, non-toxic, vegan and cruelty-free.

I very rarely will spend $15 on a nail polish so I love getting it in a subscription bag!!

This is a gorgeous dark lilac shade and I think it’s perfect for Fall!

This swatch has two coats on it.

The formula of this polish is on the thin side so it came off a bit streaky.

It took two layers to fix that issue and get an even and opaque color.

Temptu S/B Highlighter in “Champagne Shimmer” Sample:  Full Size= $27.50

Silicone-based highlighter brings a natural radiance to the complexion with colors designed to highlight and emphasize eyes, cheeks and other features.  Goes on sheer, but can be layered for intensity and mixed for a customized luminous finish.  Designed for versatility, S/B highlighter can be applied by fingertips, brush or sponge.

  • Long lasting for all-day wear
  • Oil free, non-comedogenic and hypoallergenic
  • Sheer, buildable color

This can be used on its own as a highlighter or can be mixed with body lotion, moisturizer, primer etc. to add a subtle glow to your skin.

It can also be used on your eyelids and lips.

The swatch on the right is the color dropped right onto my arm.

The swatch on the left is what the product looks like when blended in.

City Color Cosmetics City Chic Lipstick in “One Night Stand”:  Full Size= $4.99

Ultra-creamy formula gives your lips long-lasting color and lus.  These buttery lipsticks are idea for any classic City Chic look.

  • Intense, bold pigmentation
  • Ultra creamy formula
  • Paraben-free

I was a little unsure of the color when I first saw it.  (I know I know…don’t judge a book by its cover.)

But once I swatched it….I fell in love!

NYX Cosmetics Ipsy Eye Shadow Trio  Price???

This 3-color eye shadow palette gives you go-anywhere intensity day or night thanks to the highly pigmented formulations.  Provides intense eye colors with a silky texture for seamless application for any eye look that you desire.  Exclusive palette designed by NYX just for ipsters.

Because this was made exclusively for Ipsy I have no idea what the price point would be.

Since NYX is a pretty affordable brand I think it would be reasonable though!

The shades are right up my alley!  I can definitely see myself using this while traveling and on the go!

As you can see from the swatches the first two products are really pigmented.  The black is slightly disappointing though.  It goes on unevenly and the shadow crumbles a bit.

I am pretty happy with the products I received this month.  The stand outs to me were the lipstick, and eyeshadow trio!  I can’t wait to try them out!

Definitely seems worth it! I’ve heard of other makeup subscriptions like this, but I haven’t heard of Ipsy.

    1. Ipsy was my very first subscription. Some months are more exciting than others but I still like it. Are you subscribed to anything?

Unfortunately, no 😦 I really wanted to subscribe to one of the monthly makeup boxes, but after considering the amount of makeup I wear daily (aka none), I realized that it probably wouldn’t be a good investment because I’d be paying for makeup I wouldn’t use. :/

      2. I think that is a good decision. The makeup samples add up fast. I wear makeup almost every day and I still can’t get through all my samples!! I end up giving a bunch to family and friends!

Yeah, my thoughts exactly, haha. I plan on getting a subscription in the future when I wear more makeup though!

      4. If you’re into skin and hair products maybe give Birchbox a try.

    1. Thank you Luz!! 🙂 both lipstick shades look beautiful! I kind of wished I received the other one because it’s more my color, but the one I received is beautiful too! Can’t wait to see which one you end up getting!!!
