January 2016 Birchbox

Good morning beauties!!

Today I have the first Birchbox unboxing of the New Year!!!

I have to tell you…Birchbox has been wowing me for the last few months!  I’ve been even more impressed with what I’ve been receiving than I am with my Ipsy bags.  It used to be the opposite!

Birchbox is a $10 monthly subscription service that sends out 5 beauty samples.

You fill out a very simple beauty profile and they send you products based on that.

I’ve noticed Birchbox sends out primarily hair and skin products but have been including more makeup lately!!

This month’s theme is:  “2016: The Year Of…..”.

I love that they are really letting you define and create the theme of what this new year will be for you.  I love that they included sticks with the words “strength, fearlessness, risks, joy, creativity, gratitude and ambition.”

Which of these words describes what you want your year to be?

I want to say I wish 2016 would be full of all these things but if I had to pick one, I would say 2016 will be my year of risks.

I’ve allowed fear to really hold me back most of my life and keep me from doing some amazing things.  Over the last few years I’ve really made an effort to change this, but still have a LONG way to go!

Anyways…back to the point of this post….here are the items I received in my Birchbox this month!

Number 4 Super Comb Prep & Protect Sample:  Full Size = $32

A sulfate-free conditioning spray that safeguards color and protects against UV rays.

I think I am going to hold off on using this product until the Summer rolls around.  I am definitely out in the sun a lot more during the Summer months and I know my hair could use all the conditioning and protection it can get!

Purlisse BB Tinted Moist Cream SPF 30 Sample:  Full Size = $32

This antioxidant balm  evens skin tone, soothes inflamed areas, and hydrates with chamomile and Asian herb extract.

I’m not the biggest BB Cream fan.  Most of them are just tinted moisturizers called by a different name.  I will give this a try though and see how it works for me.

Klorane Gentle Dry Shampoo with Oat Milk Sample:  Full Size = $20

Award-winning fan fave that absorbs grease and puts the bounce back into second-day hair.

I don’t use dry shampoo all that often, but when my hair gets oily, it’s the product I depend on.  Most dry shampoos have a really strong scent which means I can’t use them due to my fragrance sensitivity/allergy.  I’m hoping this will be subtle enough but will still do a great job at absorbing my oil.

Real Chemistry Luminous 3 Minute Peel Sample:  Full Size = $48 (YIKES!!)

Apply this acid-free peel to clean, dry skin.  Massage to exfoliate, and wash skin to completely remove.

This product scares me A LOT!!

They make it pretty clear that this is not a face mask.

The interesting thing is the gel mixes with your dead skin cells and you can just wipe it off.

I may have a friend try this out with me so I’m not alone!!!  🙂

Eyeko Fat Liquid Liner Full Size!! = $16

This eyeliner delivers the same smudgeproof, rich color in a thicker, bolder line than the original skinny liner.

I’ve tried Eyeko’s skinny liquid liner in the past and really loved it!  I’m really excited to see how I feel about this liner.  I know the fatter tip will make it easier to create a thick line/wing.

Stand out products this month:

  • Liquid Liner
  • Dry Shampoo

What did you get in your box this month?  Has anyone had any experience with any of these products?  Let me know!
