Revlon Colorstay 2 in 1 Compact Makeup and Concealer

I have not had the best of luck with Revlon Colorstay products.

I tried desperately to love their liquid and mousse foundation formulas, but there were a few problems.

The biggest problem was the lack of color match.  I feel that Revlon came out with a lot of shades (at least with their liquid foundation) but they all made me look ashy and had a grey tone to them.

Plus, my skin absolutely hated the liquid foundation.  It broke me out terribly.

When I heard Revlon was coming out with a cream/balm foundation I was definitely skeptical.

I prayed that this one would magically work for my skin.

Price:

Just under $13.

Available in 12 shades.

Description:

Expertly matched shades of makeup and concealer for a flawless, longwearing look that’s perfect for you. Smooth, blendable formula with buildable coverage and a demi-matte finish. Compact includes a unique applicator for precise application and a mirror for touch-ups on the go.

I remembered “Warm Golden” being the closest match in the other two formulas but that shade was sold out.  I went with the next best which is 220 Natural Beige.

My Skin:

I have combination skin (oily t-zone and dry/normal everywhere else) and also have sensitive skin.

I have a medium skin tone.  Here are some of my foundation shades just for comparison.

This shade is definitely lighter than my natural skin tone but I can make it work by warming up my skin using bronzer.

The packaging is on the bulky side but I don’t mind that.

The first “layer” contains the concealer. The concealer is a shade lighter than the foundation.  It’s definitely not for color correcting and will only do so much to brighten up your undereye area.

The foundation is housed underneath the concealer tray.  It is a pretty good size.

Let me just come out and say….I hate how deceiving this foundation is.  When I was comparing shades in the store they all looked abnormally dark.

Logic told me it was just a dark film over the foundation which is the case.  Hopefully you can see in the pictures the outer layer in the dark film and the scratches in the center show the true color of the foundation.

I also think the foundation runs slightly light.

So if you are interested in this foundation…keep that fact in mind.

I will start things of by saying…if you have dry skin, you may hate this foundation.  I think you could make it work by really moisturizing your skin first, but I see it working best for those with normal or combination skin types.

Underneath the foundation is the sponge that Revlon provides with this compact.  I choose not to use it simply because it’s not my ideal method of application, but it does come in handy for quick touch ups on the go.

I have to give serious props to Revlon for the mirror this included.  Not only is it a generous size, but it is also magnified so you can really see up close.

I really the formula of the foundation and concealer.  They are creamy without feeling oily or greasy and also have great pigmentation and coverage without feeling too heavy on the skin.

It does cling to dry patches yet has a satin matte finish.  I really need to make sure I exfoliate my skin well and also moisturize really well before applying.

I love the medium coverage this provides and the fact that it can be built up.

I was able to wear it for about 6-7 hours before I noticed some break down of the product.

I did get oily in my t-zone area around hour 3-4 and and had to blot and apply powder.

So all in all I find myself liking this product.  Is it the best I’ve ever tried?  NO.  But I like the finish of it and the way it looks on my skin.  I also like that it is convenient for on the go and would be the perfect travel product.  I’m actually really excited to test it out in the summer and see how it does then.

What do you guys think?  Is this your type of product?  Let me know in the comments below!

Wishing you all a beautiful and wonderful day!

xoxo Lizzie♥

  1. I’m using liquid foundation and concealer and I’ve never used in compact pressed form. Any ways, great reviews.
