Covergirl Trunaked Goldens Eyeshadow Palette

I don’t know about you, but I’ve had terrible luck with Covergirl eyeshadows (and most of their other products) in the past.

Their eyeshadows have always been very powdery and lacked pigmentation.

I recently spotted their new line of eyeshadow palettes and was intrigued.  Especially when they made the claim that these shadows contains shades like a certain $50 eyeshadow palette (cough cough….urban decay!)

So….let’s jump into the review!!

Price:

Around $12

Available in three different palettes:

  • Goldens
  • Roses
  • Nudes

I purchased the “Goldens” palette.

Description:

CoverGirl’s Goldens TruNaked Eye Shadow Palette has a stunning range of neutral shades for your perfect nude eye look. Richly pigmented shadows in goldens, and in a range of colors and textures – from neutrals to smokys and shimmers to mattes.

Benefits:

  • Multiple highlighter, base, crease, and liner shades
  • Baked shadows with smooth, blendable application and rich payout
  • Eight shades of universally flattering, perfectly paired neutrals
  • Dermatologically tested

Right off the bat, I love the shades in this palette.  Sure, there isn’t a HUGE shade range, but you do get a range of textures and can easily go from neutral to smoky.

Compared to Covergirl’s other shadows, these are surprisingly creamy and smooth.  A few shades were a little chalky, but nothing horrible. They applied and blended very well.

The shadows apply pretty well dry but I personally love applying them wet, as this really makes the shades pop!

Now, I completely agree with the claim that this palette “contains shades like a leading $50 eyeshadow palette.”

The shades are right along the lines of Urban Decay’s original Naked Palette.

Many people have said this claim is completely false because the quality is nowhere near that of Urban Decay’s eyeshadows.

Well…Covergirl never claimed their shadows were the same quality!  They simply stated that the shades are like Urban Decay’s Naked palette.  And this is 100% true.

So if you are just looking for a more affordable option that has similar shades then this is perfect.  If you want the same smooth, buttery and pigmented shadows that Urban Decay offers…you better stay away from Covergirl’s palette.

Final Verdict:

I am pleasantly surprised and pleased with this palette.  This is the best Covergirl eyeshadow palette I have ever purchased and am really excited for them!  I think they are finally stepping up their game and are headed in the right direction!

I wouldn’t mind picking up the other two palettes if they are anything like this one!

Have you guys tried these out?  What did you think?

Wishing you all a beautiful and wonderful day!
